I’m David Uhlfelder — a 75‑year‑old native from West Palm Beach who has lived in Jupiter for more than forty years. I’ve spent a lifetime watching people, listening to their stories, laughing at the absurdity of life, and trying to understand what makes us all tick. And now, as I face early Alzheimer’s, I’ve decided to do something that surprises a lot of people:

I’m sharing my journey publicly. I’m building communities instead of retreating. I’m choosing courage, connection, and humor.

When I created DavidsAlzheimersFight.org, it wasn’t because I wanted sympathy. It was because I wanted people to know they’re not alone. Alzheimer’s can feel isolating, confusing, and frightening — but it doesn’t erase your humanity. It doesn’t erase your ability to help others. It doesn’t erase your ability to laugh.

And that’s where Everybody Is Nuts comes in.

I built this website and wrote this book because humor has always been my way of understanding the world. Laughter is medicine. It’s connection. It’s truth. It’s the one thing that reminds us — no matter our age, our challenges, or our circumstances — that we’re all the same.

The mirror on the cover isn’t a gimmick. It’s a message. When you pick up this book, you see yourself. Your quirks. Your contradictions. Your nuttiness. The beautiful, imperfect human you are.

My mission is simple: To bring joy. To spark connection. To help people understand themselves and each other. To show that even in the face of Alzheimer’s, life can still be meaningful, funny, and full of heart.
